It is comparable to the linux-image package provided by Debian/Ubuntu or the kernel package provided by Red Hat/CentOS. Most users that have read the description this far probably want to download a vanilla kernel tarball, optionally apply their own preferred patches, and install it manually. This package is strictly for those who do not want to bother with building their own kernel.
